#BIG TECH PRESSURING CALLCENTER INSTALL CAMERAS FULL#
“As we watch the forecast, we have performed system and logistic checks, and have a full complement of personnel who can jump into storm mode if needed. “PSEG Long Island has been carefully tracking the possible severe weather, and we encourage our customers to prepare,” said Rich Henderson, senior director of Transmission and Distribution Operations at PSEG Long Island. The weather front is expected to arrive this afternoon and last into the evening, possibly bringing lightning, large hail and wind gusts that could exceed 55 mph, enough to topple trees and bring down branches on wires. And the distractions/interruptions can significantly take away from your attention span, your ability to do deep work (see Cal Newport) and enjoy your life.PSEG Long Island is mobilizing for potentially severe thunderstorms that may impact the service area Monday afternoon and evening.

Also, why always be reachable? It makes humans sick, apparently.

Use texts (I have a flatrate that includes unlimited texts and calls) and personal calls to circumvent the "but then you're not reachable" argument. Avoiding something that maybe should be replaced with something better for everyone isn't invalid just because that better thing isn't established enough etc. Also, it's a factor worth being aware of that one might suffer a feeling of loss of integrity when giving in to other people's demands over your own preferences. But how obvious or hard to grasp the risks/benefits may be doesn't change how valid they are, don't forget that. It's so hard because the danger is so abstract and much harder to grasp than the very simple, obvious benefit: being able to communicate digitally very easily with almost anyone. Sometimes you get awkward jokes or skeptical questions, but just think of your reasons, present them calmly, shrug and walk away if someone gets mean about it and don't let people's frustration with your supposedly singular choice get to you. I don't use WhatsApp either (for 3 years now) and it hasn't been too hard.
